Howell Island 1/7/10 3 PM: Westerly wind 17-25 mph, 16 F, WC -12 to -20; drifts.
Road conditions not great.

Grussy is hunkered down in one of the shallow pits that she dug about a week
ago, with only her back showing. This pit is behind the white house in the center
of the field and very exposed to the blustery wind. Grussy stood up when she saw
me, walked out of the pit for a short distance, stood on one leg and squawked,
then went back to the pit. Hang in there little one.

Male N Harrier seen across the road, and is flying low over the field.

Stay warm family.
