I just got a call from Kirby Goslee and David Easterla. They have been
watching the feeder where the black-headed grosbeak has been seen. They
have been there from daylight until 12:30 without seeing the bird. There
has been much bird activity around this feeder, but no grosbeak. Kirby was
also there yesterday afternoon from 1:00 util 5:30 with no luck. Looks like
the bird has left the area or possibly have been a meal for some predator.
