Black-throated Sparrow was the favored ID by a majority of the replies I have received. There was one vote for Eurasian Tree Sparrow and one vote for House Sparrow.
The photographer, Jack Hilsabeck and I believe that the bird was probably a Black-throated Sparrow.
I hope the bird re-appears in order that a definite ID can be made.

I received this email from Jack Hilsabeck and he subsequently emailed me a post of a photo of the bird. I downloaded the photo to my "flickr" account and it can be viewed
here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/11503968N00/?SAVED=1 Larry Lade

Larry: I was sent this photo of a bird
that that was taken today in andrew county near Savannah, MO. The bird was
feeding under a feeder and was very close. The head of the bird is towards
the camera and its tail is away from the camera. It was feeding with a
group of juncos and was there only briefly and did not return. What are
your thoughts about the identify of this bird. He thinks he knows what it
is and I think he might be right. He did see the front of the bird but did
not get a photo.
