This morning, Mark McKellar of the Backyard Bird Center in Kansas City, North, led a small group of birders on an outing at Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary in Liberty. The morning was chilly with drizzle, but we saw quite a variety of birds in the wooded and prairie edge areas. The species we saw are as follows: Sharp-shinned Hawk - 1 Franklin's Gulls ~ 25 overhead Rock Doves - 7 Chimney Swifts - 5 Belted Kingfishers - 2 Red-bellied Woodpeckers - 3 Northern Flickers - 14 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker - 1 imm. Downy Woodpeckers - 9 Blue Jays - 20 American Crows -2 Tufted Titmouse - 3 Black-capped Chickadees - 6 White-breasted Nuthatch -1 Brown Creeper -1 Carolina Wren - 5 Ruby-crowned Kinglet - 3 Hermit Thrush -1 American Robins - 26 Cedar Waxwings - 5 Orange-crowned Warbler -1 Yellow-rumped Warbler -1 Summer Tanager -1 Northern Cardinals - 3 Another good morning of birding!
