There is an excellent thread on the ID-Frontiers listserve regarding the potential "lumping" of Thayer's and Iceland Gulls into one species. Many believe that Thayer's Gull represents the darkest form of Iceland Gull, with kumleini being less dark, and nominate glaucoides the palest form of Iceland Gull.
