Laura Gilchrist and I covered Watkins Mill State Park and the NE corner of Clay County for the NAMC on Saturday, May 8. A beautiful day with insane numbers of birds. I'll try to separate out the numbers for the park for SPARKS.

Lots of Blackpoll Warblers for me these last few days in multiple locations. Red-shouldered Hawks are nesting again at the mill. Laura spotted a Wood Thrush on a nest along the lake trail.

For those seeking Bobolinks, MM Hwy from the north entrance of Watkins Mill over to Hwy 69 is a good location as well as 192nd Street from 69 Hwy west to Thompson Road.

Two days earlier, our Burroughs Audubon Bird-a-thon team had an Osprey near Watkins Mill sitting at a pond near the north entrance - an unusual bird for there it seemed!
