I scouted the reserve this morning in anticipation of the SLAS trip here
tomorrow.
Pretty quiet, shorebird-wise: a flock of ~40 golden plovers persists at the
western terminus of Augusta Bottoms Rd., white-throated, swamp. song,
chipping and vesper sparrows; blue-winged, green-winged teal, shovellers and
wood ducks; a sharp-shinned hawk, a couple of pectoral sandpipers, and the
usual woodland suspects. In the last few days there have been pipits,
yellowlegs, dowitcher, snipe and a merlin. Perhaps the strong winds today
will blow in a few more interesting birds.
