The Joplin CBC on 12-20-08 had just 61 species. Our 22-year
Joplin CBC has found from 60 to 80 species, so our circle is not exactly a
Mecca for birds.
Birding was very quiet all day. We had nine observers
in four parties plus seven feeder watchers.
No remarkable species. Best ones I suppose were:
Bald Eagle (ad.) 4
N. Bobwhite 1
Bonaparte's Gull 42
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker 7
Spotted Towhee 1
Pine Siskin 9.

Good birding, Larry H. Joplin (Jasper County) MO.
