We have four Bluebird hatchlings in one of our boxes.

I've been checking the box daily (blowflies, etc.) and
also photographing the babies as they grow.

I've also taken some good pictures of Dad Bluebird
"dive-bombing" me while I'm in the area.

My question is this; How do the adults make that
"thwacking" or ticking noise when they're defending
their nest?

Is it "vocal" or "mechanical" (wings)?
