A quick check of the Bird Banding Labs longevity page (http://www.pwrc.usgs.gov/BBL/homepage/longvrec.htm 
) gives 26 years and 2 months as the North American record. The top  
ten are seabirds, but the big surprise is a 31 year-old Mourning Dove!  
The Euring site (http://www.euring.org/data_and_codes/longevity-voous.htm 
) gives a record of 26 years and 1 month. On that page, the record  
holder is a 49 year 8 month old Manx Shearwater, still going strong.
