During the past weekend at the Civil War Reenactment held at The Jerry Smith
Park and Conservation area in south Kansas City. Several whip-poor-wills
could be heard in the evening in the northeast area of the park near the two
lakes. Several different varieties of flycatchers were also seen in the Federal
camp area in the north woods near the small stream. CAUTION: The area is
infested with ticks. Wood and seed ticks are in abundance and hungry.
