Edge Wade left a message on my cell phone at about 4 p.m. Wednesday
relaying that she and Steve Dilks have both been working Smithville
Lake all day and have not found the Mew Gull. They've seen a total of
about 40 gulls all day long. The most interesting bird, she said, is a
largish, very light-colored gull with an almost all-black bill --
apparently a first-cycle Herring Gull -- at Little Platte Marina.
