Without even getting 2 days of snow off my car, I can picture the conditions. A few years ago, I got greedy for birding and attempted to return from Riverlands through mid St Charles County instead of 270. All those wide open spaces with nothing to stop the wind from re-covering the shoulderless two-lane roads made it extremely hazardous. The guy in front of me stopped suddenly on a curve and to avoid rear-ending him I had no choice but to plow into a soft snowdrift recently piled up by the snow/salt trucks. How's that for a convoluted sentence?

Take care if you go out there. everyone, And thanks to Tom for posting Dave's negative results re longspurs and presumably snow buntings.

Dave Rogles reports that north St. Charles County roads are covered in snow this morning and that you need four-wheel drive to get through in many places because of drifting. And that's in spite of the plowing the county has been doing. They aren't icy, but sometimes you can't see where the road is.

He was looking for longspurs, but he hasn't found any.
