This weather has caused a Dark-eyed Junco to perch on a tube feeder here and eat thistle. This is a behavior I have never seen by a Junco. Most of the Juncos are feeding on the ground under my car. The grass is still exposed under the car because I haven't moved it during the past week so it has provided a good shelter for the bird seed. In the snow storm this morning there was a flock of Lapland Longspurs feeding along the roadside.
