Subject: Trip Report--SLAS Columbia MO. Saturday, 11/10

Thank-you to Brad Jacobs and the Columbia, MO birders Jean Leonatti, Susan
Hazelwood, Sandy Elbert and Denny Donnell for the enjoyable trip 20 St. Louis
Audubon birders had on Saturday. As Jean posted, we had success at Bradford
Farms searching for and finding a Le Conte's sparrow, American Pipit, Smith's
and Lapland Longspurs, Brewer's Blackbirds and 4 beautiful Short-eared Owls.
After touring the farm, many of our birders plan on returning in the
future.

After lunch, an informative tour of Eagle Bluffs familiarized us with the
local names of many of the locations and where many of the rarer birds have
been seen. It was a beautiful fall day to be birding and listening to the
Eastern Screech Owl vocalize in the wood duck box was a rare treat.

Columbia is only a short 1 1/2 hour drive from St. Louis and a very
enjoyable day trip for birding. Thanks to the hospitality of the Columbia birders,
our group had a wonderful time and will certainly return soon.

Pat Lueders, St. Louis Audubon
