Webster Groves Nature Study Society
Report for Sunday, November 11, 2007

Riverlands MBS
Jones-Confluence SP

It was cool this morning, with a light wind, but as the sun rose and came
out from behind the clouds the air heated quickly and it felt unseasonably
warm. Building cumulus clouds didn't seem right for mid-November. Rain
moved in late in the trip, but held off until literally the last few
minutes.

I spotted a duck in Heron Pond that appeared to be a male Green-winged Teal,
but it had no buffy shoulder bar. The bird slipped into the reeds and we
moved on. A fly-by single, short "tew!" call note might have been a Lapland
Longspur.
