I believe that this may be the same Surf Scoter which I saw on October 22, 2007. Today it was swimming around the boat launch/swimming area of Lake Contrary being followed by several Northern Shovelers. The scene kind of reminded me of a mother hen with chicks in tow!

Also seen around Muskrat Lake, about 40 Brewer's Blackbirds (today there were Red-winged Blackbirds, Brown-headed Cowbirds and European Starlings mixed in with them).

The Stockyards hosted about 250 Great-tailed Grackles this morning and the ubiquitous Eurasian Collared-Doves (about 100).

Near Muskrat Lake about 40 Lapland Longspurs were flying around the harvested soybean/corn fields.
