Mark McKellar of the Backyard Bird Center in KC North lead a trip to  
Smithville Lake (Clay Co) this morning.   It was overcast, and  although we didn't 
see many waterfowl, we had a good trip.  We saw:

Double-crested Cormorants
Canada Geese
Gadwall
Wood Ducks
Turkey Vultures
Sharp-Shinned Hawk
Red-tailed Hawk
Bald Eagle
Osprey
American Kestrals
Great Blue Herons
Killdeer
Ring-Billed Gulls
Franklin's Gulls
Rock Doves
Mourning Doves
Northern Flickers
Red-Bellied Woodpeckers
Red-Headed Woodpeckers
Yellow-Bellied Sapsuckers
Downy Woodpecker
Tree Swallows
Blue Jays
American Crows
Black-Capped Chickadee
Northern Mockingbird
American Robin
Eastern Bluebirds
Ruby-Crowned Kinglets
Cedar Waxwings
European Starlings
Yellow-Rumped Warblers
Eastern Meadowlarks
Red-winged Blackbirds
Common Grackles
Northern Cardinals
House Finch
American Goldfinches
Chipping Sparrow
Birds that were heard only:  Belted Kingfisher, Carolina Wren
