About a year ago, I saw several hundred over the Amoco/Shell station at McClausland-Skinker and Clayton road, near the southwest corner of Forest Park. They were swarming over all the bugs attracted by the heavy flood lights illuminating that massive sign.

Subject: Nighthwaks in Forest Park, STL

Last night I played softball in Forest Park, on a field just west of the
planetarium. Couldn't take the time to try and count, but
 the sky above
the lighted field was so thick with feeding nighthawks that fly balls
were hard to see.

(By the way, we lost both games. To a team who wore Hawaiian shirts and
captain's hats, no less!)
