Unfortunately, the WGNSS group was unable to refind your plover or the Red-necked Phalarope after the big rain storm. Thank you for passing on your finding. There were so many rocks exposed by the rains, and all the downsides of the rock and mud flats, the bird was probably still there somewhere out of sight.

Bill Reeves and I located a Snowy Plover in Ellis Bay at RMBS at 12:30 p.m. today. The bird was about 1/10 mile north of the south observation tower. At first the bird was moving about in a field of rocks but eventually moved out onto a mud flat. After 30 minutes of viewing a heavy rain began and the bird apparently moved because it could not be seen when the rain subsided. The bird had dark legs as opposed to the orange legs of Piping Plover. The WGNSS Thursday group came along as we were leaving but Bill told them about the bird. A documentation will be sent to the Rare Bird Committee. Also seen was the Red-necked Phalarope and other shorebirds in the vicinity.
