 MO-Birders -

Dave Pierce and I birded RMBS this morning from 9:00-11:00am and Horseshoe
Lake from 11:00am-12:30pm.  We did not see either the Red Knot or Stilt
Sandpiper (too bad for us).  Some of the birds we did see were:

RMBS -

Mallard
Killdeer (hundreds)
GB Heron (many)
DC Cormorant (a good number)
Horned Lark (family in the Teal Pond parking lot)
Great Egret (many)
Ring-billed Gulls (hundreds)
Spotted Sandpiper
Caspian Tern (50-75 at Lincoln Shields)
Cooper's Hawk
Am. Kestrel
Black Tern (about 15 flying North over the Observation tower - "Lifer" for
me!!)
Barn & N. Rough-winged Swallow
Northern Bobwhite and family of chicks crossing the road about 1/2 way
between the observation tower & Fiska station)
White Pelican (several)
Snowy Egret
Baird's Sandpiper
Lesser Yellowlegs
Osprey (several over Mel Price lock & dam)
TV

Horseshoe Lake -

More Great & Little Blue Herons, Great & Snowy Egrets
More Mallards
Pied-billed Grebes
Caspian Terns (several)
Ring-billed Gulls
Am Coot

Subject: Red Knot

Charlene Malone asked me to post that she saw a Red Knot at the end of the
boat ramp at Alta Villa off Hwy 94 in north St. Charles County. This was at
4:00pm. A Bald Eagle harassed the shorebirds, flushing them. Dick Coles now
reports seeing the Red Knot in Ellis Bay at Riverlands.
