The Chimney Swifts are gathering together now. They will stay in large chimneys together at night until the middle of Oct. when they begin to migrate.
This weekend is the first 'Swift Night Out', so count them as they enter those chimneys and turn the count in to Kyles website. I will post it again.
I would like to know where they stay in Independence and also Liberty.

  Subject: Chimney Swifts

As I drove through downtown Independence at dusk tonight, I noticed hundreds
of Chimney Swifts flying around the Central Professional Building. As far as
I can tell, it lacks a chimney, and there was no obvious chminey near by. As
I got closer to the building, I saw at least one swift land on a ledge of
the building. Do swifts sometimes roost on the outside of brick or stucco
  buildings?

A block or two farther on, another swarm of swifts was flying about another
building. This one had a chminey, and some swifts were going into it.

Altogether, I must of seen at least 4-500 swifts, maybe more. I had not
realized that they congregated in such numbers this early in the summer.
  Nesting must be done now.
