  Mobirders -

Mark and I took a ride on the new trolley in Joplin today.
We had 18 species. We saw a Mourning Dove take some
dead grass to a nest up under a canopy at a bank at 7th
& Main. His or her buddy was on the nest. (Both incubate according to the
literature). Our Atlas work had an account of nest with eggs August 8.
Doves probably nest about year around almost.

I haven't had any luck finding Mississippi Kites in Joplin this summer
except for a single early June record (not from the trolley).

Good birding, Larry H. Joplin (Jasper County) MO.
