St. Louis area birders only,

QUICK post...... can't stay long.

Horseshoe Lake, Madison co., IL
Bend road/Hwy 203 side
Cormorant tree - NO Neo. Cormorant

Hwy 111 side at Boat ramp - NOTHING

Causeway:
Teaming with birds but many too far away with heat distortion, sun coming
out and wind, rather difficult to ID birds. (Except for the big birds. Early
AM or evening visit would be better)
Highlights:
4 COMMON MOORHENS - 2 ad, 2 juvies
tons of shorebirds. Nothing new that I could find. LOTS of STILT SANDPIPERS.
Peeps were just too far away.
NO breeding plumaged Bonie that was there a week ago (Keith McMullen find)
lots of gulls, egrets, herons, pelicans, ducks.
They have STOPPED the draining of the pool so there is SOME water for the
juvie Pied-billed grebes. Hope it is enough (!!) and there long enough for
them to develop wings to fly.

Gotta' go.
Charlene Malone
St. Louis co.
