Happy Memorial Day to all.

Birded 2 CA's in Platte County this morning (Kansas City area).

Platte Falls CA Highlights--Birded CA from entrance off of I-29 and HH, exit 19:

1. Black and White Warbler--f1 emale working a tree
2. Prothonotary Warbler--1 male in trees near lowest river access point. The
other river access is up the hill nearby. Heard it first and then observed it. It
sang then was silent for about 10 minutes. Then back to singing. I imitated it
best I could and it flew to edge of trees where I was standing. I was almost
blinded by the yellow of that bird!!!
3. Mourning Warbler--1 female observed low while parked near big power
lines.
4. Yellow-breasted Chat--1 observed in same area as Mourning Warbler.
5. White-eyed Vireos--heard singing repeatedly in 2 different locations.
6. Alder Flycatcher--1 seen and heard.

2 other empids were seen but not heard. They did not respond to begging....:)

Guy B Park CA Highlights:

1. Alder Flycatcher--1 singing over and over near main body of water (near
restrooms). One of my favorite songs.
2. Bell's Vireo--1 heard easily from small CA parking lot off of Highway 371.
3. Lark Sparrows--3
4. Dickcissels--singing everywhere! Turn the volume down, please!
Can't...hear...other...birds....
