New Heavy Rains Force Auto Tour Loop Shutdown for Memorial Day Weekend

Squaw Creek National Wildlife Refuge's, Manager Ron Bell, has temporarily
closed the refuge ten-mile auto tour loop for the Memorial Day Weekend
including Monday the holiday.

Recent heavy rains have again caused flood damage in recently repaired
roadways that were just reopened from high flood waters.

Dryer weather forecasted into the weekend should allow refuge maintenance
staff members conduct road work early next week for reopening the refuge
auto tour route in the bottomlands. Further closure details can be
obtained by calling the Squaw Creek Refuge at (660) 442-3187.

The Office Visitor Contact Station is closed on weekends including the
holiday weekend and Monday. Refuge regular summer office hours are from
Monday thru Friday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
