Birded Big Buffalo Creek, Benton County, between 5:00 and 7:30 p.m. yesterday, April 29. Beautiful place and very birdy.

Partial list of the birds seen (a more experienced ear would have a bigger list):

Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Eastern Kingbird
Yellow-throated Vireo
Northern Parula
Common Yellowthroat
Black and White Warbler
Blue-winged Warbler
Nashville Warbler
Orange-crowned Warbler
Yellow-throated Warbler
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Louisiana Waterthrush
Eastern Towhee
Best birds of the evening for me: Excellent long looks at male Cerulean and Bay-breasted Warblers

Whip-poor-will after dark at Truman State Park in Warsaw.

End of bird report!

Flowers at Big Buffalo Creek down by the creek: Wild Hyacinth, Virginia Bluebells, Spiderwort, Wild Sweet William, Ragwort, Trillium, Blue-eyed Mary, Larkspur, Ohio Buckeye. Many Green Dragons. Paw paws are leafing out - many Zebra Swallowtails flying.

Later at night on Frog and Toad Survey route near Coal, MO: American Toad, Blanchard's Cricket Frog, Gray Treefrog, Southern Leopard Frog.
