Birded Simpson and Emmenger County Parks,St Louis county late this  morn
Simpson County Park is located along Marshall rd in Valley  Park.Its located 
in the Meramec River floodplain and has a large lake..Very  birdy place.One 
doesnt even have to leave the parking lot.Its another great spot  for 
prothonotory warblers that nest along the lake.Birds seen within about 20  minutes 
included
Osprey,
 black-crowned night heron
 great egret
 red-shoulder hawks
orchard,baltimore orioles
 eastern king birds
great-crested  flycatch
yellow,prothonotory,yellow-throated,parula,nashville,tennessee  warblers
 warbling vireos
 
 The eastern section of Emmenger County Park is located in  Kirkwood Mo near 
the MDC Powder Valley Nature Ctr near the intersections of270  and 44.It used 
to be the grounds of the old Fountain Bleu Country  Club
  The eastern section of Emmenger Park,located along the Meremec River  has a 
unique blend of habitat ecotones with upland habitat and birds coming  right 
down and mixing along the rivers edge with bottomland habitat.While  looking 
at a prothonotory warbler a worm-eating warbler was calling about 50  feet away
 several trails that go along the river as well up into the  hills
 birds seen-
 Baltimore oriole
 rose-breasted grosbeak
cat bird
red-shoulder  hawks
prothonotory,parula,yellow-throated,worm-eat(finally!),waterthrush,nashville,b
lack  and white
white,warbling,red-eye vireos
 There is also another section of  Emmenger park located directly  across the 
river that has a lake and also has great birding
