My birding group IDed the following at SNR during a walk that encompassed
the southern end of the Brush Creek Trail and the Wildflower and Overlook
trails and a quick foray around the Pinetum Lake:
Red-shouldered Hawk
Chimney Swift
Red-headed Woodpecker
Pileated Woodpecker
Acadian Flycatcher
Least Flycatcher
Eastern Phoebe
Eastern Kingbird
White-eyed Vireo
Yellow-throated Vireo
Tree Swallow
House Wren
RC Kinglet
BG Gnatcatcher
Gray Catbird
Brown Thrasher
Mockingbird
(all three mimids behind the visitors center)
Blue-winged Warbler
Tennessee warbler
Nashville Warbler
Parula
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Prairie Warbler
Northern Water Thrush (poking around in the cane/bamboo planting on the west
side of the Pinetum Lake)
Common Yellowthroat (many aggressive males trying to establish territories--
chasing and singing)
Yellow-breasted Chat (singing and displaying)
Scarlet Tanager
Towhee
Chipping, Field, grasshopper, Henslow's, Song, White-throated Sparrows
Blue Grosbeak
Indigo Bunting
Orchard Oriole
and all the usual woodland suspects.

We saw so many blue-gray gnatcatchers and yellow-rumped warblers that we
stopped pointing them out.

The weather threatened but held off until we concluded the walk at around
11:30 a.m.

Good luck to the SLAS bunch on Saturday; you should do well if the weather
cooperates!

Good birding,
Don Hays
