A whip-poor-will called off and on for an hour at dusk on Sunday evening
here in Columbia. I first heard the call very close by on Cook Ave., then
further away in the area of Worley Street Park. I was pretty suprised to
hear it, as I hadn't heard one calling in town before in the six years I've
lived here.

Also, an accipiter visited my feeders today. I was on the other side of the
house at dusk. I saw the hawk fly to a branch above my neighbor's yard. As
I tried to determine the species through the branches, it swooped out of
sight behind my house and reappeared above my other neighbor's yard a moment
later with a snack in its talons.

Good birding everyone.
