I made a quick swing through part of the area this morning. Nice bunch of Greater White-fronted Geese and American Wigeon grazing together in the field just North of old RR crossing down by area Hdqtrs. The pools South and West of Hdqtrs are still covered with Ducks! Did not see the Greater Scaup reported earlier but could have been there with the scores of Lesser Scaup, Redheads, Canvasbacks, Buffleheads, and 1,000s of Ringed-neck Ducks. Lower numbers of Dabblers scattered in also.. Really nice close-in viewing too. Saw a number of Ruddies on deeper waters of Che-Ru Lake and Bittern Marsh. A few Bald Eagles perched around watching over the waterfowl. Some Tree Swallows around but only shoerbirds I saw were Killdeer and Snipe.
