Birded Pawnee Prairie CA and Dunn Ranch (both Harrison Co.) today (03/19/07) in the afternoon.
Dunn Ranch (get permission from Nature Conservancy before visiting: 314 968-1105, ask for Doug):
Greater prairie chicken - 2
Eastern meadowlark
Western meadowlark
Song sparrow
 
Pawnee Prairie CA. 140th Ave was closed north of the CA. Enter from the south. Species seen:
Smith's longspur - 1. The bird was on the mowed path 200 yards from the parking lot. THe prairie has not been burnt for a while, so there is almost no suitable habitat for this species.
Northern harrier - 2
 
Along Hwy W:
FOY Eastern phoebe
Loggerhead shrike
Various waterfowl species on farm ponds
 
Nice day to be out, but too windy.
