Right on schedule, three woodcocks were peenting and doing the aerial show tonight in the same field where we've seen them for a decade: behind the AT&T bulding on Belltrees Road a half mile east of the entrance to Principia College. Tonight, the peenting started in earnest at 6:17PM and still going strong when we left for dinner at 6:40. There were three males. One chased another all the way across the field. First time we've seen that behavior. We heard two Barred Owls and a Great Horned Owl too. Great evening.
