The MDC "Natural Events Calemdar" gave last Friday, March 9, as date for 
ticks to appear.   So they aren't excessively early.
Incidentally, our male red crossbill is appearing for five minutes every 
morning about 7:25 for his breakfast of black oil sunflower seeds,   with an 
afternoon 5-minute snack about 4 pm....3 days consecutive that I have seen.  
  We don't stock ticks in the feeders, but I doubt he would eat them.
