Yesterday at 11 AM I found an Eastern Phoebe at the MSSU wetland,
Joplin, Jasper County. The bird was down low performing flights across
the grasses and rushes at the water's edge in the mist. I tried waving my
hand over the grass at a different location of the pond but didn't stir up
any winter insects. The spring-fed water was open.
Dave Henness's party had an Eastern Phoebe in Newton County on the
12-28-06 CBC. Like all of our CBC's that was before the ice event.

Good birding, Larry H. Joplin (Jasper County) MO.
