Columbia Bottom:
  Seen several times from new gravel road - Red-tailed Hawk with very dark, very low V-shaped belly-band, but darkish  head - finally saw red tail after hoping for a rarer species.  Big flyover of Gr White-fronted Geese - Big flocks of Red-winged Blackbirds that paused in trees next to road - Northern Harrier.  Extensive shallow water around new road was frozen -- Great shorebird habitat if managed there in the spring.
   
  Back on main road - Eastern Screech Owl leaned out of the nest box for good looks by all.
  Am Goldfinch - Downy Woodpecker - Hairy Woodpecker heard - Carolina Wren - Chickadee sp. - WB Nuthatch.  Big concentration of Am Crows - a few Bald Eagles - Horned Lark - possible Longspur but too far away to identify
   
  Riverlands MBS:
  N Harrier - many Bald Eagles - Am Kestrel - 12+ White-crowned Sparrows in office grasses.
  Ruddy Ducks - Common Goldeneye - Common Mergansers - Scaup sp. - Gadwall - Am Black Duck identified by R Coles - Mallards - N Shoveler - Canvasback flotilla - Surf Scoter in near binocular distance - Canada Geese - Pied-billed Grebe - Bufflehead - Am White Pelicans (one briefly pursuing a Bald Eagle that had stolen its fish) - DC Cormorants - Great Blue Heron.  Ring-billed and Herring Gulls - one large big-billed gull possible Gr Blk Backed 
   
  IL Hwy 143 - Alton Barge - Visitor Center area
  Male Belted Kingfisher - Wild Turkey flock - more Bald Eagles - NO Glaucous Gull - NO Black Ducks - more Mallards - more Gadwall - other birds I've overlooked
   
  Unable to wait for the gull roost to develop.
