Dear MoBirders,

   Just to let you know that Bill Goodge was Correct, the Gate was Closed this
Morning, but it was Unlocked and I was able to go back there to take a Look...
After Driving through though the "Exit" Drive was Pad-Locked, so you have to
go out the "Entrance" Drive - I stopped by the Headquarters and talked with
them and they said that they would have it Un-Locked sometime tomorrow...

Here's what I saw from around 11:45 to 1:45:

As Bill stated, there were Many, Many Mallards (1000's++) & Several Gadwalls
(100's); 35-40+ Canada Geese; 45-50++ Northern Shovelers; 15-20+ Northern
Pintails, as you are Heading through the Entrance Road going to Pools 14 & 15;
20+ American Coots; 2-3+ AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS were mixed in with the
Mallards at the Beginning of the Distribution Channel; 1 Lesser Scaup
(Female); I saw one other Duck that I couldn't Identify, it Looked like a Ruddy
Duck, but it wouldn't stay out of the Weeds long enough for me to get a Good
Look...; 1 Pied-Billed Grebe; 1 Belted Kingfisher; 8-10 Killdeer and 6-8 Wilson's
Snipe on the Shore/Sandbars, along with 1 Rock Pigeon(???) in Pool 15; 1 Red-
Tailed Hawk; 1 Northern Harrier; 6 or so American Crows; Many American Tree
Sparrows; and Several Eagles (5-6+) over Perche Creek, though from a
Distance All I saw were Juveniles...

I did Not See the Redhead or the Teals, and I Searched Long and Hard for a
Red-Headed Woodpecker, thought that I Heard one, but I couldn't Find it...

Bill, if you Read this, Where is the Woodland Trail and Wetland Unit #1???
Thank You...

Once again, at least one Gate is now Open, and both of them Should be
sometime Tomorrow... Good Luck!!!

Yours,
Jonathan B. Pons
Columbia, Boone County
