Yesterday 11/12 had great close views of the WESTERN GREBE still present at
Horseshoe Lake, IL at the end of Layton Rd. One female Red-breasted Merganser
at the Borrow Pit. Single Mute Swan in a small pond on 111 just north of the
park entrance as I was driving by. Several A. Kestrels and Red-tailed Hawks
in the area as well as a Northern Harrier.

At Riverlands MBS, there was one Common Loon in Ellis Bay across from the
Fisca station. The BLACK SCOTER was still by the observation tower as
promised. Also in that same area, about 30 Snow Geese with a single ROSS'S
GOOSE among them. Lots of Horned Grebes and a good assortment of other
waterfowl. Herring Gulls seen.

Back home my humble feeders welcomed a female Purple Finch. First of the
season for me, and a new yard bird.
