I birded Platte Co. today (10-14-06) and started at Frederick Marshall Conservation Area. Very birdy with most expected woodland species present plus some bonus birds. Here are some highlights:
Ruby-crowned kinglet
Golden-crowned kinglet
Nashville warbler
Orange-crowned warbler
BLUE-HEADED VIREO
Clay-colored sparrow
Lincoln's sparrow
White-crowned sparrow
White-throated sparrow
Song sparrow
Yellow-bellied sapsucker

Redhead
Ring-necked duck
Am. coots
Pied-billed grebes
 
Smithville lake (Clay Co.)
Common loon - 4
Horned grebes - many
Pied-billed grebe
Double-crested cormorant
Ring-billed gull
Bonapart's gull
Franklin's gull - over 500
Caspian tern - 1
Osprey - 2
Ruddy ducks - lots
American wigeon
Gadwall
