Thanks to the Grand River crew (the hosts of the Original Big Sit in
Missouri) for putting out the usual red carpet. The birding was a
little tough this year--little water in Swan Lake, but we had some
good looks at several species and the brats and carry-in food was all
great!

Big Sits are fun--especially when someone else puts on the event.
Columbians have a tradition of traveling to them (we've enjoyed both
Swan Lake and Squaw Creek), as it gives us a chance to visit with
birding pals we may see only a few times a year.

On the return to Columbia, Bathkes and I toured Grand Pass CA, Saline
Co. White-crowned sparrows were in. We watched a flight of Common
Nighthawks feeding and slowly working southward.
