I stopped by the "Nichols Pond" area of Horseshoe Lake off Bend Road near
Illinois Route 203 this morning before work. Nothing significant at the
pond, but there was at least one clay-colored sparrow in the short trees and
bushes near the D-shaped parking lot.

It posed and gave great looks of all the field marks. AND it was a lifer.
Another bird that looked similar flew off before I could get my binoculars
on it.

Later,
