I live on Smithville lake, north of Paradise, on the east side from Trimble. On Sunday, while sitting at our kitchen table I caught a bird out of the corner of my eye fly up in some nearby trees. I told my wife, I think I just saw a pileated woodpecker. I grabbed the binocs and headed out the door. I heard him calling and then he flushed and I had a good look. I have lived at that location over 20 years and that was the first pileated woodpecker on our land!! I know it might not be the greatest report, but it was definitely out of the ordinary for us!!
