So in my suburban backyard this weekend, I saw up to 7 hummingbirds all at
the same time battling each other for the 3 backyard feeders (one small one
in front yard). This was out a back patio door and had limited viewing
space.
So to use the ratio that was given in the August birding section on
mobirds.org (2-3 birds thought using the feeders when there were actually 10
different birds, so roughly 1 to 5 ratio), I have up to 35 birds visiting my
feeders?? Holy Cow.
They are having a good time flying through the sprinkler showers as we
watered our parched lawn.
We both are getting strafed when we go out in the yard, particularly in the
evening.
Still seeing several males and think we have a new bully male bird guarding
the back feeders (have to look at the pictures).
Know this nothing new to you all living in the country, but something new to
me living the 'burbs.

Gotta' go
