Welcome to the list!  Several folks joined Anne on July 11 to witness  
the martins coming in.  It is "normal" only in that post-nesting the  
martins find communal roosting areas before leaving for the southward  
migration.

Several older Missourians may recall that Gov. Warren Hearnes  
complained about the starlings roosting on the mansion grounds and  
requested that they be shot.  Inspection after the slaughter revealed  
several hundred martins, not starlings.
