What is the current status of Common Moorhen in Missouri? Three and four years ago, Common Moorhen was easy to get at the south end of the Squaw Creek NWR loop, and I saw adults two years in a row at Bob Brown WMA. They were also easy to get in the waste water ponds in Columbia. If there have been posts about them in the last couple of years, I have missed them. I have also missed them in my personal trips to Squaw Creek and Bob Brown. The 1986-92 Breeding Bird Atlas shows only one record of Common Moorhen during the seven year atlas period -- a "possible" at Ted Shanks WMA. Have they disappeared now that the drought is over? Or are folks still finding them?
