After 12 hours of helping with the Alton portion of the Madison County,
Ill., spring count, I decided to do some birding for myself while daylight
lasted. I stopped by the old Indian Lake Golf Course off Collinsville Road
between Rts. 203 and 111 at 7 p.m. Saturday and found two adult GLOSSY IBIS
foraging in the muck with about ten snowy egrets and two little blue heron.

Also, as part of this sojourn, I stopped at Choteau Island. There were
numerous bobolinks and dickcissel and I found a single Bell's vireo. Two of
the western kingbirds were back near the old Melvin Price Support Center off
Rt. 3 near Granite City.

Later,
Shawn Clubb
Collinsville, Madison Co., Ill.
