Rad Widmer and I birded LOST VALLEY from about 9:30 - 11:30 AM St. Charles
Co. There was plenty of sunshine and no wind. Lots of singing birds.
Many of the breeding birds have arrived. One bird we were looking for, but
missed, or has yet to arrive, is the Worm-eating Warbler. Here are some of
the birds featured on this trip:

Red-tailed Hawk (seen)
Red-shouldered Hawk (heard)
Broad-winged Hawk (seen)
Barred Owl (heard)
Cerrulean Warbler (at least a dozen)
N. Parula (over a dozen)
Yellow-throated Warbler (close to a dozen)
Common Yellowthroat (about a dozen)
Kentucky Warbler (over a dozen)
Louisianna Waterthrush (a few)
Blue-winged Warbler (a few)
Ovenbird (a few)
Yellow-breasted Chat (one)
Yellow-throated Vireo (a few)
Warbling Vireo (a couple)
Red-eyed Vireo (a couple)
Scarlet Tanager (a couple)
Indigo Bunting (a few)
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher (over a dozen)
Eastern Phoebe (a few)
Pileated Woodpecker (one)

We stopped very briefly at Blue Grosbeak Trail:

Yellow Warbler (several)
Yellow-breasted Chat (one)
No Bell's Vireos yet. Didn't see any Blue Grosbeak.

Stopped only 5 minutes at Katy Trail parking lot, but saw no Painted Bunting
yet.
