I was able to break away for from family visiting in Springfield, MO and headed to Stockton Lake. (About 7:30 - 9:00 A.M) 15 - Common Loons (4 in breeding plumage) 1 - Pacific Loon (not in breeding plumage; close view and near Commons for easy comparison) 1 - Osprey 1 - Prothonotary Warbler 3 - N. Parula 1 - Warbling Vireo 2 - Scissor-taile Flycatcher (Viewed 6 Common Loons group together as I crossed the dam. 2 Common at the west dam overlook. 5 Common and 1 Pacific at the Stockton boat ramp. 1 Common as I crossed over Hwy 215 bridge, and another at a gravel pullout just east of 215 bridge. --- I can usually count on a fair number of Common Loons at Stockton Lake this time of year when we visit family over the Easter weekend. However, there's usually the issue of fishers and boats competing against me for space [noise and distance], which can sometimes drive the loons farther a away, just when I get that close, perfect viewing. You know what I'm talking about. A bit frustrating sometimes.)
