The reliable little Yellow-crowned Night Heron was back at the usual place just inside East gate of the refuge today. It has returned to this same area for several years in a row now. It was hunting in a small pool next to the road. There were 10 -12 Great Egrets and at least that many GB Herons on the refuge also. A group of Pelicans were on Silver Lake. Saw one Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake, always cool to see.

Walked first part of the boardwalk at Pershing SP earlier. Many Ruby Crowned Kinglets and BG Knatcatchers have arrived. Had good close looks at one N. Parula Warbler too.
