I did not see the Golden Eagle at BK Leach today. Nor did I see any shorebirds except for Killdeer. However, in the many impoundments there were lots of ducks, mostly puddle ducks but some diving ducks too, including Redheads, Ring-necked Ducks and a few Buffleheads. Several Blue-winged Teal and American Wigeon were on hand. I saw a single Tree Swallow by the river.

A trip to Riverlands late this afternoon provided an opportunity to see thirty or more Tree Swallows. At six o'clock this evening, while looking for Short-eared Owls (no such luck), I heard a Common Loon calling behind me in Ellis Bay. It was in breeding plumage and called several times. I don't hear Common Loons vocalizing very often in this area.
